Dec 16,  · Graveyard Whistling is just about what you would expect from the Old 97’s, in a good way. For those bred in the roots scene from more recent sounds emanating from east Nashville that are a little more neotraditional or Muscle Shoals in nature, the Old 97’s might sound a little dated because the band’s germination point was the mid 90’s.

Jesus loves you more than I do Just because He doesn't know you Not like I do Jesus says you'll get salvation If you just keep on waitin' And readin' the same book Over and over again Well, you can talk to Him all night But I'm right here He makes wine from water.

You could almost define the term "Alt Country" with the latest single from Old 97's, "Good With God," which takes the sonic aesthetics and lyrical themes that are hallmarks of country music and, with a sense of reverent sincerity, subverts the form for a more modern, rockin' audience.

This is the first Old 97's I've heard since they were in the first rank of the canthjacknasbattpresex.pleasnambnubitedreekthostpestepyparrock.infoinfoy Movement back in the mid-Nineties, and it is better than anything I've heard by them. Eleven songs that clock a total of 42 minutes, the length of a vinyl LP in the days of old, this is high octane stuff to fuel your own personal propulsion system!Reviews:
